Swarovski Cigarette Holders – For the Smoker ?

A very small quantity of items with the smoker in mind were produced by Swarovski (although will probably not be used by a collector) included the Ashtray, Cigarette Lighter & Cigarette Holder. We will be discussing each in separate blog posts over the next few weeks.

Let’s talk about the Cigarette Holders first.

The most common Cigarette Holder is 100% crystal with no metal accents.

The other far more unique & hard to find Cigarette Holders were produced from 1977 to 1983 with a variety of metal accents – Rhodium Polished, Brushed Rhodium, & Polished Gold.  These sold for Thousands of Dollars at one time to Collectors in the Secondary Market, after they were retired, before the After Market collapse.

BOOKS ABOUT SWAROVSKI ? DID YOU KNOW ?

BOOKS ABOUT SWAROVSKI ?
DID YOU KNOW ?

I am often asked about the availability of books that are published containing information about Swarovski products.
And, there are books available. For example, Dean Genth’s ‘Collecting Swarovski’ and Vivienne Becker’s ‘The Magic of Crystal’ are among the most known books for Collectors.
Books, as you know, only have a capability for a certain # of pages with information & photographs before they become cumbersome, limiting their usefulness. Then, of course, there is a multitude of books available about Swarovski Jewelry & Beads.

However, there is ONE Source where you can view thousands and thousands of photographs filled with information about the multitude of Swarovski Crystal issued during the last several decades (yes, we have them all the way back to the early 70’s !)
The Crystal Fanatics Club (CFC) for Collectors of Swarovski Crystal is currently celebrating its 16th year on the net. Our CFC Photo Galleries currently contain more than 13,000 Photos; most of them depicting the many various product lines issued by Swarovski for Collectors. We even have a few 2016 New Issues posted on our Bulletin Board!
For a mere $29.95 yearly, you can have access to our FABULOUS CFC Photo Galleries, along with all the many benefits we offer our Members.

COME JOIN US!
You’ll receive a Warm Welcome from our Members. Many of them are the most avid & most knowledgeable Collectors from around the world who collect Swarovski Crystal.
They happily share their knowledge on our 5 CFC Bulletin Boards & twice weekly in our CFC Chat Room.

What makes the AE Woodpeckers Unique?

"Swarovski Annual Edition Woodpeckers"

Swarovski Annual Edition Woodpeckers
© Copyright Crystal Fanatics Club, Inc.

The second figurine in the popular & first Swarovski Annual Edition series,  ‘Sharing and Caring’, was designed by Adi Stocker, released & retired in 1988.

The Woodpeckers stand a little over 4″ tall, hand-assembled, with the logo on the bottom, the designer’s initials, “A St” & 88. These are sometimes very faint & hard to locate.

What makes them Unique ?

Swarovski issued two variations of the Annual Edition Woodpeckers, designed by Adi Stocker.
Variation 1 has a frosted base, while Variation 2 has a clear base. You can only differentiate them by looking at the bottom of the base, not through the top of the trunk.

Why are there differences in the base of the trunk?
According to a former Swarovski employee, the Woodpeckers were supposed to have a clear base. But, during manufacturing, the trunks had to be ‘filed’ to make the bottom smooth to allow them to stand upright.  The next step is to repolish the trunk base, but that didn’t happen, leaving them with a frosted base.
You can pay up to $1,000 more for the clear version of the Woodpeckers on the Secondary Market because they are Rare and hard to find. Fortunately, I have the more valued Woodpeckers in my Collection.

The Woodpeckers retailed for $165 & included an octagon-shaped display mirror and can be found with either Logo: sCs or the Swan with SCS on it.
Secondary Market Value for V1 with the Frosted base is approximately $1000. The Clear base (V2) value is approximately $2,000.

Swarovski Zales

I recently wrote about Swarovski issued by Dillard’s Department Stores.

Zales Jewelers also issued pieces made with Swarovski Crystal, during the 1980’s.
Lions, Bears, Cats, Birds, Dogs, Elephants, Fish, Horses, & Wolves can be found among these issues, all displayed on crystal stands.
Because they are Rare, not easily found, & most are more substantial pieces than the Dillard’s issues, they command higher prices in the Secondary Market. Most of them are worth in the $100 – $200 range.

Here’s some examples:

"Zales Fish"
