ARE YOU A COLLECTOR ?

Here are signs that you are, indeed, A Collector!

Are most your pieces from one manufacturer?
ie., Swarovski, Hummel, Lladro, to name a few.

Would you ever buy a duplicate of one you already have?

Do you have/save the original packaging?
Is your garage full of bins with boxes from your collection?

Do you remember when it started?
Every true collector remembers when they bought their first piece.

Do you love learning about your collection?

Does the ‘thrill of the hunt’ feed your drive to collect that rare and coveted piece?

Are you proud of owning sought after pieces?

Do you sometimes buy a piece because of your Childhood memories?

Do you buy certain memorabilia ? (related to Sports, Disney, Elvis Star Wars, etc).

Do you buy certain Celebrity items ?

Do you enjoy collecting as a leisure activity ?

Do you meet other Collectors at swap meets and auctions where a shared hobby has formed the basis of many friendships?

Do you collect in the hopes your collection will make money/increase in value in the years to come?

Are you a member of a collecting club?

If you can answer the majority of these questions with a Yes! You are a Collector!

Swarovski Cigarette Holders – For the Smoker ?

A very small quantity of items with the smoker in mind were produced by Swarovski (although will probably not be used by a collector) included the Ashtray, Cigarette Lighter & Cigarette Holder. We will be discussing each in separate blog posts over the next few weeks.

Let’s talk about the Cigarette Holders first.

The most common Cigarette Holder is 100% crystal with no metal accents.

The other far more unique & hard to find Cigarette Holders were produced from 1977 to 1983 with a variety of metal accents – Rhodium Polished, Brushed Rhodium, & Polished Gold.  These sold for Thousands of Dollars at one time to Collectors in the Secondary Market, after they were retired, before the After Market collapse.

Swarovski Beetle Bottle Openers

The Beetle Bottle Openers have been one of our most controversial subjects among our ‘Crystal Fanatics’, for their ultimate uniqueness and for their design attributes… some like it while others do not think they are very attractive. What do you think ??

Beetle Bottle Opener – Gold – Rough surface
Var. 2  Logo: Block SC

Beetle Bottle Opener, Rhodium, rough

The metal body where the legs attach has a rough texture, crystal stones are not interchangeable.
These two issues have the same specifics as those above, the only difference is in the textured surface.  The difference is on the side of the metal; it is either smooth or rough in texture.

The Beetle Bottle Opener was also available in Genuine Silver. Possibly a prototype.

At one time, they were valued at several thousand dollars.
