There are books in the marketplace that claim to provide current retail values for Retired Swarovski Crystal. In actuality, what they are providing is ‘insurance’ values, should you need them, if there is a loss/breakage of Swarovski crystal items in your collection. Insurance companies, likewise, recognize and will pay your claim based on these ‘values’ because the author is a certified appraiser. Although this is nice information to have should you need to file an insurance claim, it is seldom needed.
Added to these values, are commissions that you would pay to Secondary Market Specialists should you purchase your crystal from them. This makes these ‘supposed values’ pretty much moot from reality in the open marketplace as they do not reflect a truly fair market value. In fact, it makes the values published totally overestimated. You can buy these products for a lot less than their ‘estimated replacement values’.
You can get more realistic values at CFC for $29.95 a year (with no costly shipping fees) in our FABULOUS CFC Photo Galleries in FULL COLOR – with MORE THAN 11,000 Photos!
If you need insurance + secondary market commission values, then you can certainly pay $135 + shipping for both books you will need with less Photos, in Black & White, or $300 + shipping for the color editions. You will need to buy these same, bulky books each year for updates. That’s a pretty hefty yearly investment to pay for overvalued retirement estimates.
For those of you who live in the UK, you can download insurance values (they are a lot different there), for FREE from our good friend & well-known, trustworthy Secondary Market Specialist at The Crystal Lodge.
