Schonbek is an international lighting manufacturing company specializing in Swarovski Crystal chandeliers, wall sconces and lamps made of crystal and/or metal, trimmed with a variety of crystal types. Styles range from the traditional to contemporary to ultra modern. In recent years colored crystals have been added to the line.  SWAROVSKI is the world leader in high- quality, precision-cut crystal.

A Little History:
In Bohemia, in 1870, Adolf Schonbek walked away from the family glassworks to begin his own business. It was the height of the last great era of romance and candlelight. People of means throughout Europe lived opulently in homes richly furnished and lit by ornate crystal chandeliers. Not surprisingly, Adolf’s business flourished.  He began a dynasty of light that extends to the present day.

In London, the Queen’s agent ordered Schonbek crystal for Buckingham Palace, and in America, Schonbek crystal found its way into the White House.

World wars and trade wars came and went, and Arnold Schonbek, Adolf’s grandson, lost the factories first to the Nazis, then to the Communists. After escaping from a tumultuous Europe, Arnold re-established the company in Montreal, and eventually moved the headquarters to the United States. Schonbek has been a Plattsburgh, NY-based global manufacturer since 1972.

In 2007, Swarovski acquired Schonbek, expanding its position in the lighting industry, bringing  lighting ideas to their full brilliance with a comprehensive range of lighting solutions.  http://www.schonbek.com/

  1. Robert says:

Well I have just moved into a new home and have bought several light shades. But no I cannot afford a chandelier like this. Even if I could afford it how the devil would you keep the dust off of it without breaking it. (here in the UK you could get Del and Rodney in to clean it)

    • It’s true Robert. Swarovski Chandeliers are a challenge to keep clean. We have one in the dining room, (I actually threaded all the Swarovski Crystals myself) & to thoroughly clean it (I use soap and water), it must come down and go back up (I take it down in layers). BUT it so BEAUTIFUL when it’s done! 🙂
