The Woodpeckers are the 2nd edition of the Caring and Sharing Trilogy, designed by Adi Stocker, and issued in 1988. They are approximately 4″ high. There are two versions of the Woodpeckers, Version 1 has a frosted base, seen most often; Version 2 has a clear base, a rarer issue, and considerably more valuable. I have the clear version in my personal Collection. To see if you have the clear base, turn the piece upside down and look thru the base, it will be clear, NOT frosted.

The Woodpeckers are the only annual to include a mirror with the Swarovski logo.
These were issued with both the sCs Logo and/or Swan with SCS logo. They retailed for $165.00 at the time of issue.
A Quick check of eBay sales for V.1 – May – July 2012 – shows an average selling price of $646.24, MIB.  The secondary market values are approximately $1200 for V1 – Frosted base, (so much for anyone who claims to be an ‘authority’ or an ‘expert’ on valuations), and approximately $2,000 for Version 2 with the clear base.

The Certificate of Authority (COA) is packaged in the same envelope used for the AE Lovebirds. The cert is valued separately at approximately $180.
The Woodpeckers Box is valued at approximately $450 and is in the same kind of packaging as The Lovebirds.
I doubt if any of these valuations are true to what they would sell for separately. One person tried to sell the cert on eBay recently for $85; it didn’t sell.  12 Others listed in the $85 – $90 range were No Sales.

Woodpeckers Mirror
The mirror comes with both the sCs logo (V1) & with the Swan logo (V2). It is valued separately at approximately $150.00; however, 2 recent successful sales for it on eBay were for $30 and $49 respectively.

It just goes to show you that ‘authoritative’ or ‘expert’ valuations don’t mean a thing; the old adage, ‘it’s worth what someone is willing to pay’ couldn’t be more true in the collectibles market today.
