About Jay Strongwater

Jay Strongwater Gifts , jewelry, trinket boxes, & home decor items are hand-crafted in delicate detail and many of his issues are manufactured using Swarovski Crystal.

A little history: Jay Feinberg founded Jay Feinberg Fashion Jewelry,in his own name, in 1982 in New York. He began making jewelry while a sophomore at the Rhode Island School of Design where he began designing a necklace for his mother Penny that led to raves from locals in Montvale, NJ, and an order from a hometown boutique. By calling on department stores, he suddenly had orders for his jewelry from Saks, Bendel and Bergdorf Goodman, and found his jewelry displayed and draped on mannequins wearing Oscar de la Renta dresses. Soon Buyers were calling him requesting his next jewelry collection.

The 1980’s were good years for jewelry and Feinberg’s jewelry was often seen on the New York runways and the pages of Vogue magazines. In 1988, a partnership developed with an investor fell apart and in 1989, the business closed and the investor retained the rights to use the name of Jay Feinberg. In 1990, Jay Feinberg reopened his business, & changed the name to Jay Strongwater (his mother’s maiden name) Fashion Jewelry.

Strongwater designed jewelry and accessory lines for Oscar de la Renta to highlight their clothing lines. His jewelry is instantly recognized by the iconic swirled and layered enamel, the hand-placed clear and colored Swarovski crystals and a lighthearted use of motifs. His jewelry line of necklaces, bracelets, brooches, earrings and rings is hand-painted over metal, hand-enameled, and hand-set in the U.S.A. with Swarovski crystals, using old-world hand crafted techniques and the use of gemstones. Outstanding jewelry designs taken from nature like leaves and flowers and/or animals to include butterflies, frogs, salamanders, and dragonflies, embedded in metal of gold and silver. Logos include JAY FEINBERG” (1982 – 1988), “JAY STRONGWATER” (beginning in 1990 on tags and stickers), “JAY” (on earrings).

Today, Jay Strongwater’s jewelry and accessory lines are sold at Sak’s Fifth Ave., Henri Bendel, Nieman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman department stores.
Of Note to Swarovski Collectors, additional items now produced by the Strongwater Fashion Jewelry company include picture frames, decorative boxes, compacts, home accents, lipstick cases, vanity trays, bookmarks, figurines, key rings, mini frames, napkin rings, perfume bottles, pins, purse sprays, tabletops items, vanity jars/mirrors, vases, wine stoppers and candlesticks. His jewelry and accessories are of the highest quality in design and workmanship and, therefore, sell for high end prices.

Jay Strongwater thinks like a jeweler whether he’s working on a candlestick, a wine stopper or a clock. He knows how to set a stone so it has the right sparkle—some of his pieces glitter with two thousand Swarovski crystals.

Strongwater’s newest collection is the Wild Animal Collection, again using many Swarovski Crystals in the design. These are high end issues, selling for thousands of dollars.
