Dragons are the RAGE: Year of the Dragon 2012

2012 is the Chinese Year of the Dragon. We’re not quite sure how many Dragons Swarovski thinks crystal fanatics will purchase in 2011 and 2012, but I can assure you that they are growing more like last year’s Rabbits!

Here’s some information about the current releases, followed by the 2012  releases.

The year 2012 is considered to be the Chinese year of the Water Dragon. Swarovski designer Elisabeth Adamer designed the base of the Satin Crystal dragon to resemble a bed of sea foam in clear crystal with bright red eyes.
Ancient Chinese Dragons are powerful symbols of good fortune, representing powers of new beginnings, high achievement, prosperity and success. There are five Chinese elements that are symbolized by the dragon – Fire, Water, Wood, Metal and Earth in an 8 year cycle. The Majestic Water Dragon is said to have the power to provide water for parched lands,symbolizing abundance, relief and balance.

Zodiac Dragon on Base, Limited Edition 2012

Chinese Golden Dragon 2012 Ltd Ed
Only available in Greater China during the Year of the Dragon 2012 (January 23, 2012 – Feburary 9, 2013).
Sparkles in Golden Shine with eyes in Light Siam Satin crystal. The clear crystal base is engraved with ‘Limited Edition 2012’, along with the Zodiac name in English and Chinese seal script.
This is the same size as #1 075 151 – the clear small Dragon, and the same color as #1 083 710 – the large Golden Dragon, but neither of them were issued as a limited edition.
This Zodiac sign represents peace and tranquility.
Size: 12.2 x 8.3cm / 4 13/16 x 3 1/4 inches
Comes with special certificate.
Retires 2013

    I agree although since I am a dragon I kind of like having lots of them. Not sure how many of them I will buy. I do like the SCS dragon and will get that one for sure.

    Yes I like these Dragons. I think Swarovski have found the right conditions for the Dragons to Breed, as they seem to be Multiplying.
    I think we should give them names, it makes them more interesting
    What is a good name for an old Dragon?
    I have got two Old Dragons who I call Jane and Angie!
    Anyone else like to name a old Dragon

    The Dragons are something different and interesting.
    But I think that Swarovski may have gone over the top a bit.
    To many dragons now.
