The Trimlite ‘Gnomes’

In the Swarovski Trimlite product line, figurines known as “The Gnome Family” were introduced as far back as 1983 and 1985.  Swarovski demonstrated skill in the execution of gnomes – delightful little figurines with round crystal bellies and goldtone faces, pointed goldtone hats, arms, hands, legs & feet.
  • Trimlite Gnome Brother Playing Horn
  • Gnome Dancing Daughter
  • Gnome Laughing Brother
  • Gnome Laughing Sister
  • Gnome Mama
  • Gnome Papa

Gnome Papa and Mama are the tallest figurines in size at 3.5″ tall.  All the Trimlite Gnome children: Dancing Daughter, Laughing Sister, Brother Playing Horn, and Laughing Brother are smaller, measuring 2.5″ high.

Interestingly, the gnome children were issued BEFORE the gnome parents.  The children were introduced in 1983 at a retail price of $25 each.  They retired in 1988.
The gnome parents were issued in 1985 at a retail price of $50 each and also retired in 1988.
Today, any one of these charming little gnomes can cost you up to $300 each on the secondary market.

I have the Gnomes… they are Trimlite, I had to add them to my collection 🙂 But I must admit, they are probably my least favorite of the Trimlite pieces. Now the Sports Champions and the Children, they are another story! Still looking for some of the kids…

I quite like the sound of Trimlite items but not gnomes, I think.

Here in the U.K. gnomes have taken over some peoples gardens. Now I suppose they will be taken over the Swarovski display cabinets as well.
